Delete your Reelist account

You can delete your Reelist account yourself, from inside the app, at any time. You do not have to ask us, there is no waiting period, and nobody has to approve it.

In the app

Open Profile, tap Settings, then Delete account, and confirm. That is the whole of it. The account is gone when the confirmation finishes, not queued for a later sweep.

Signing up again with the same phone number gives you a new, empty account. It does not bring the old one back, because there is nothing left to bring back.

What deleting your account removes

Everything the account holds, immediately and permanently: your profile and handle, your phone number, every film you logged, your notes, comparisons, rankings and scores, your lists including your watchlist, your comments and likes, your follows in both directions, any contacts you synced, your notification settings and devices, and your profile picture. Nothing is archived and nobody can restore it, including us.

What survives, and why

Two things deliberately outlive the account, and you should know what they are:

• Reports about other people are kept, with your identity removed from them. A report is a complaint about somebody else, and if deleting your account withdrew your outstanding complaints, deletion would become a way to withdraw a report against an abuser. Reports filed about you are kept for the same reason.
• A phone number banned for abuse stays banned. Otherwise "delete and sign up again" would launder a ban.

There is no other retention period. The privacy policy sets out the whole of what we collect and why.

Deleting only your contacts

If you want to undo a contacts sync without closing the account, open Profile, then Settings, then Delete my contacts. It removes every row we hold from your address book straight away, including entries for people who are not members.

If you no longer have the app

Install Reelist again and sign in with the same phone number, then follow the steps above. That is the fastest route, and it is the only one that proves the account is yours: a phone number is the only credential Reelist has.

If you cannot sign in, for example because you no longer have that number, write to support@reelist.watch and a person will answer. We will have to ask you some questions before deleting an account we cannot see you sign in to.
